I attended college in 1995 with a dream to work for an airline. After graduating with my Commercial Multi-Engine and CFI I began flight instructing. In 2000, I married my best friend who is also a pilot. In 2002, we welcomed our first son to our family which has now grown into three sons. In November 2016, I hopped into a C-172 for a Bi-Annual flight review… I had not flown since 2002, but last October I received a 1st Class Medical (I do not know where the past 15 years have gone… they have flown by). After three flights, the instructor signed me off. I could not believe it! In January 2017, I applied for 3 jobs… Two with the regionals and one for a flight instructor position… I was offered all three! I flight instructed for 5 months to earn the required minimum flight time, and this week completed my first flight with a regional!
If you would have asked me a year ago if I thought any of this would have been possible I would have said no… But it is possible!!! I'm doing it and loving each day! A friend of mine who is a F.A.S.T. member told me about Female Aviators Sticking Together a year ago. Reading all of the F.A.S.T. stories inspired me that what I wanted to do is possible. Thank you so much for all the encouragement and inspiration!
